A rhino’s horn grows as much as three inches a year. Some have been known to grow as long as five feet long. Females use their horns to protect their young. Males use their horns for fighting. This prominent horn, which rhinos are so famous for, has been their downfall. People use the rhino horn for medical purposes and as a status symbol, because a small amount of powdered horn costs a great deal. It is also believed to be an aphrodisiac.  In this figurine, the rhino is depicted in a natural setting. The wood-like oval surrounding the scene frames it, creating a finished picture. Exterior measurements are 7.25″ wide and 4.5″ high.
