The Cairn Terrier originated in the Scottish highlands and is considered one of Scotland’s earliest working dogs. The breed was given the name Cairn because it was used to hunt and chase foxes between the cairns, a stack of rocks on a trail, in the Scottish highlands.
Cairn terriers are affectionate, intelligent, loyal, and wonderful companions. They thrive on attention from their people. They love to snuggle, and they also love hiking or a good romp in the yard.
